Ironman Backstage

Welcome to the fourth of our webclips about Ironman.

This clip looks behind the scenes of the European Ironman circuit and Thomas Dieckhoff, Ironman President Europe, Middle East and South Africa, gives us an insight into the runnings of the Ironman organisation.

With 46 events, 80,000 to 90,000 participants and more than 2 million spectators a year, Ironman has grown into one of the trend disciplines amongst the endurance sports.

A key factor in running these events is the involvement of volunteers, and we talk to a number of different volunteers at the 70.3 World Championship in Zell Am See, Austria and find out what excites them about working at an Ironman event and what makes Ironman such a special sport.

Please also see the first part of this series, Fascination Ironman, Part 2, Sebastian Kienle – The Defending Champion, and Part 3, Ironman Equipment.
